Riverdale season 2: New fan theory reckons Archie’s mum could be
the killer
Warning: Contains
potential spoilers for Riverdale season two. 😈
As Riverdale unravels a new
mystery in season two, a new theory has suggested the identity of the Angel Of
Death killer could be particularly close to Archie.
While the list of
suspects surrounding the masked killer who shot Archie’s dad Fred Andrews
grows, it seems there may have been a potential culprit hiding particularly
close to Archie’s home life. Some fans now believe Archie’s mum aka Mary
Andrews could have put a hit out on her husband, and there’s a string of
believable reasons why.
Last season saw Mary
try to persuade Archie to move with her to Chicago, which he refuses on grounds
of wanting to be with his dad. While she seemed reasonably at ease with the
decision, could this have been part of a bigger plan to murder her husband? In
the diner, the masked killer notably causes no harm to Archie despite pointing
the gun at his head after shooting Fred. An order to cause no harm to her son?
The motive would also make sense as Archie would be left in Mary’s custody if
Fred was killed, and the death of Miss Grundy in the closing moments of the
first episode could be brutal revenge after she took advantage of her son.
The season two
premiere’s wedding dream sequence also saw Mary suspiciously placed alongside
the Blossoms, who are renowned murderers. Coincidental wedding seating plan in
a dream sequence? We’re suspicious. It’s, of course, pretty silly to suggest
the actual masked killer is Mary considering the shooter has been identified as
a green-eyed man, so could there be a new boyfriend of hers doing Mary’s
bidding? Some have even suggested Fred Andrews isn’t actually Archie’s
biological father, with this potential masked killer being Archie’s true dad.
Could Mary have had a secret love affair birthing Archie’s luscious looks?
Give us those genes.
The theory certainly makes sense on most counts – we’re just slightly
questioning the motive which would drive Mary to want to kill Fred, as it’s
surely got to take more than mere custody rights. There are however a wealth of
other suspects, including stray Blossoms and even the arrival of Hiram Lodge
onto the scene.
